Last Year Ever Review

Often, we carry over goals and ideas into a fresh new year out of guilt or a feeling of failure. We review all of the things we didn't do this year, we shake our heads and ask ourselves "what is wrong with me?" and we promise ourselves we will do better next year.
 
I am here to present the idea that doing that...
 
...shockingly...
 
...won't work.
 
You will most likely be beating yourself up again next year.
 
Intead, let's try something new.

Is there a success formula?

Learning the secrets and the "rules" of success is a passion of mine. I have spent the past 7 years studying, reading, listening and attending seminars on this topic, and hundreds of thousands of dollars and countless hours later, here are some of the things I have figured out:

Your Ego is Your Amigo!

Most self-help books, programs and experts will tell you that in order to achieve a truly happy life, you need to forgo the evil "ego".

Unless you intend to live your days on a mountain top in the lotus position
DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS GARBAGE!

If you want to live a life integrated into society, ANY society, you need to appreciate and respect your ego and work WITH it, not against it.

Here's an interesting idea - I was reading a great blog...ironically, this blog was ABOUT blogging [http://www.fridaytrafficreport.com], and came across an interesting post on what makes us, collectively, more likely to "rise to the occasion" and churn out our best work. The thought being this - as a culture in North America, we are soft. We are prosperous, comfortable and, well, really really really lucky. This breeds complacency....
